According to this Guardian article, climate litigation in the US is entering a "game-changing" new phase with a series of upcoming lawsuits that are intended to call Big Oil to account for their role in causing the climate crisis.
Given that our transition to a carbon-free future is going to cost the world trillions of dollars, it only seems appropriate for the major emitters (who knew the impacts of their actions and deliberately hid it from the public for DECADES) to be required to foot the bill.
