There's been a lot of buzz recently about the huge potential for seaweed as an untapped food source and fodder for biodegradable alternatives to plastic and other materials – not to mention the role seaweed can play in creating healthy ocean habitats.
Given that 75%-86% of the plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is thought to come from the fishing and aquaculture industries, this seems like a good thing.
