Interesting stats on EVs and energy use in the US, developments in wind and tidal power, a plastic recycling microfactory, and an "unprecedented collapse" in EU fossil fuel generation.
Now they just have to build eleventy-billion miles of transmission lines to get everything connected.
The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a sweeping set of reforms that will make it easier for power projects to interconnect with the nation's transmission grids. According to this Canary Media article, clean energy groups are saying they welcome the reforms but that the country won’t be able to clean up its grid without dramatically accelerating the construction of new transmission lines to connect new clean energy sources with the larger grid.
Welp, nobody ever said that rapidly transforming the world's energy systems would be a smooth and easy ride! I'm guessing electricians and electrical engineers are going to be in huge demand for the next few decades... 🔋⚡✊
